Paint Party

20 Nov

My sister and her BFF Amanda came to visit us this weekend and these are some crafty girls so I planned a little paint party for our Saturday night!  After watching the terrifying movie Prisoners (Mason is never leaving my sight ever) we needed a pick-me-up so I put Elf in the xbox, got the paint out and set up our crafting table.

Earlier that day, we had taken a trip to Michaels to pick up some supplies and the object that we would be painting.  We found this sassy hen ornament and the moment we found her, we knew she was the one.  Love at first sight.  We named her Lola.

The painting commenced and it was crazy fun.  I will totally be doing this again with a group of friends – what a great idea!  It’s like going to one of those “tipsy painter” places but in the comfort of your own home.  Here is what you need, it might seem obvious but lists are always convenient:

  • Different sized paint brushes – I got a pack of 25 for $4.99 at Michaels!
  • An assortment of acrylic paint – .69/paint also a steal
  • Canvas – we went with 8×8 which was the perfect size for our Lola paintings
  • Newspaper to line the table
  • Small cups of water to rinse brushes
  • Paper towels to dry bushes
  • Foil to use as a paint palette
  • An object to paint.  Might I suggest a fun ornament… Lola really worked out great.
  • Wine – a no brainer

We finished our masterpieces right as Elf was ending and they are the bees knees.  It was so fun to see how different and amazing all of our paintings came out!

(sorry for the fuzziness)

I’m actually pretty excited about my sassy-hen painting!  I hung it near our powder room where people can enjoy it’s gloriousness.

This crafty idea was so much fun that I’m already planning the next painting extravaganza!
